Revert "Enable type on search by default for the project search (#49374)" (#49619)

This reverts commit e477b545b7.

Needs 2 more fixes:

* enter does not move to the first excerpt anymore
* there could be situations when a narrowed search does not decrease the
excerpt enough to see the result onscreen
