Also updates CI to always run this - that way we ensure that disabling
or enabling tests does not become stale at some point and thus can
safely add this.

Relicenses `zlog`, `ztracing`, and `ztracing_macro` from
GPL-3.0-or-later to Apache-2.0.
GPUI depends on `ztracing`, which depends on `zlog`, so these crates
have to be non-copyleft for GPUI to ship as a permissively licensed
project.
- Switched the `license` field to `Apache-2.0` in all three manifests.
- Added the `LICENSE-APACHE` symlink to `zlog`, and dropped the
`LICENSE-GPL` symlinks from all three. `ztracing` and `ztracing_macro`
already carried both symlinks; now the on-disk license matches the
manifest.
- Declared `license = "Apache-2.0"` for `gpui_util`, which had a
`LICENSE-APACHE` symlink but no `license` field. `script/check-licenses`
doesn't catch that, since it only inspects symlinks.
No source changes; none of these crates carry GPL headers or in-source
license references.
Checked the rest of the subtree while here: the only first-party crates
reachable from `ztracing` via `cargo tree -e normal` are `collections`,
`gpui_util`, `zlog`, and `ztracing_macro`, all Apache-2.0 now.
Third-party deps (`tracing`, `tracing-subscriber`, `chrono`, `log`,
`anyhow`, `tracy-client`) are MIT/Apache.
`script/check-licenses` passes.

Makes `ztracing` spans work on the web, by mapping them to browser
`performance` APIs.
Since calling into JS from wasm has fairly high overhead, we instead
have a dedicated reporter task that threads send timing information to.
This approach significantly decreases the performance overhead of the
span-capturing thread (which is usually the performance sensitive one),
at the expense of:
- erasing thread information for spans in the browser devtools
- potentially dropping events if the bounded queue becomes full
The first issue can be mitigated by some slightly more sophisticated
capturing, along with a fixup script, which will come in a later PR

## Summary
This moves the remaining first-party AGPL surface to GPL, a less
restrictive license for these components. Apache-2.0 components are
unchanged.
Changes:
- Updates the `collab` crate from `AGPL-3.0-or-later` to
`GPL-3.0-or-later`
- Removes the root AGPL license file and first-party crate AGPL symlinks
- Updates web, documentation, Flatpak, README, and terms references to
reflect the GPL/Apache licensing split
- Updates the open-source component example list in the terms and
regenerates the RTF copy; no other terms changes are intended
- Adds guardrails so first-party crates cannot declare AGPL licensing or
carry `LICENSE-AGPL` files
Release timing: preview during the week of June 1, 2026; stable during
the week of June 8, 2026.
## Residual AGPL/Affero references
- `LICENSE-GPL`: GPLv3's own compatibility clause; unchanged official
license text.
- `crates/json_schema_store/src/schemas/package.json`: generic npm
package-license schema value, not Zed licensing.
- `script/check-licenses`, `script/new-crate`,
`script/licenses/zed-licenses.toml`: guardrails that reject or warn
against reintroducing AGPL.
## Verification
- `script/check-licenses`
- `script/generate-licenses`
- `script/generate-terms-rtf`
- `script/new-crate license_probe_for_gpl`, then discarded generated
crate
- `script/new-crate license_probe_for_agpl agpl` fails as expected
- `mdbook build docs`
- `./script/clippy`
- `git grep -n -I -E "AGPL|Affero"`
- `git diff --check`
Release Notes:
- The `collab` crate, used to implement Zed's collaboration backend, is
now licensed under the GPL instead of the AGPL. The AGPL license is no
longer used in the zed repository.
While at it, annotate more functions that are potentially related to
language parsing in buffers.
Also, on macOS, in order to actually have callstack frames properly
recorded by Tracy, you need to manually run `dsymutil` on the binary.

Release Notes:
- Improved display map rendering performance with many lines in the the multi-buffer.
