Hello, I've been loving using GPUI! Recently I noticed that calling
`.with_animiation()` would give an `AnimationElement<E>` which did not
allow `.child()` to be called on it. It was a quick fix, I hope it's a
quick easy merge but let me know if you'd like anything changed :)

This PR fixes an issue where extension operations would never show in
the activity indicator despite this being implemented for ages. This
happened because we were always returning `None` whenever the app has a
global auto updater, which is always the case, so the code path for
showing extension updates in the indicator could never be hit despite
existing prior. Also slightly improves the messages shown for ongoing
extension operations, as these were previously context unaware.
While I was at this, I also quickly took a stab at cleaning up some
remotely related stuff, namely:
- The `AnimationExt` trait is now by default only implemented for
anything that also implements `IntoElement`. This prevents
`with_animation` from showing up for e.g. `u32` within the suggestions
(finally).
- Commonly used animations are now implemented in the
`CommonAnimationExt` trait within the `ui` crate so the needed code does
not always need to be copied and element IDs for the animations are
truly unique.
Relevant change here regarding the original issue is the change from the
`return match` to just a `match` within the activitiy indicator, which
solved the issue at hand.
If we find this to be too noisy at some point, we can easily revisit,
but I think this holds important enough information to be shown in the
activity indicator, especially whilst developing extensions.
Release Notes:
- Extension installation and updates will now be shown in the activity
indicator.

* Picking of elements via the mouse, with scroll wheel to inspect
occluded elements.
* Temporary manipulation of the selected element.
* Layout info and JSON-based style manipulation for `Div`.
* Navigation to code that constructed the element.
Big thanks to @as-cii and @maxdeviant for sorting out how to implement
the core of an inspector.

This PR adds the first part of our planned extended notification system:
StatusToasts.
It also makes various updates to ComponentPreview and adds a `Styled`
extension in `ui::style::animation` to make it easier to animate styled
elements.
_**Note**: We will be very, very selective with what elements are
allowed to be animated in Zed. Assume PRs adding animation to elements
will all need to be manually signed off on by a designer._
## Status Toast

These are designed to be used for notifying about things that don't
require an action to be taken or don't need to be triaged. They are
designed to be ignorable, and dismiss themselves automatically after a
set time.
They can optionally include a single action.
Example: When the user enables Vim Mode, that action might let them undo
enabling it.

Status Toasts should _not_ be used when an action is required, or for
any binary choice.
If the user must provide some input, this isn't the right component!
### Out of scope
- Toasts should fade over a short time (like AnimationDuration::Fast or
Instant) when dismissed
- We should visually show when the toast will dismiss. We'll need to
pipe the `duration_remaining` from the toast layer -> ActiveToast to do
this.
- Dismiss any active toast if another notification kind is created, like
a Notification or Alert.

There's still a bit more work to do on this, but this PR is compiling
(with warnings) after eliminating the key types. When the tasks below
are complete, this will be the new narrative for GPUI:
- `Entity<T>` - This replaces `View<T>`/`Model<T>`. It represents a unit
of state, and if `T` implements `Render`, then `Entity<T>` implements
`Element`.
- `&mut App` This replaces `AppContext` and represents the app.
- `&mut Context<T>` This replaces `ModelContext` and derefs to `App`. It
is provided by the framework when updating an entity.
- `&mut Window` Broken out of `&mut WindowContext` which no longer
exists. Every method that once took `&mut WindowContext` now takes `&mut
Window, &mut App` and every method that took `&mut ViewContext<T>` now
takes `&mut Window, &mut Context<T>`
Not pictured here are the two other failed attempts. It's been quite a
month!
Tasks:
- [x] Remove `View`, `ViewContext`, `WindowContext` and thread through
`Window`
- [x] [@cole-miller @mikayla-maki] Redraw window when entities change
- [x] [@cole-miller @mikayla-maki] Get examples and Zed running
- [x] [@cole-miller @mikayla-maki] Fix Zed rendering
- [x] [@mikayla-maki] Fix todo! macros and comments
- [x] Fix a bug where the editor would not be redrawn because of view
caching
- [x] remove publicness window.notify() and replace with
`AppContext::notify`
- [x] remove `observe_new_window_models`, replace with
`observe_new_models` with an optional window
- [x] Fix a bug where the project panel would not be redrawn because of
the wrong refresh() call being used
- [x] Fix the tests
- [x] Fix warnings by eliminating `Window` params or using `_`
- [x] Fix conflicts
- [x] Simplify generic code where possible
- [x] Rename types
- [ ] Update docs
### issues post merge
- [x] Issues switching between normal and insert mode
- [x] Assistant re-rendering failure
- [x] Vim test failures
- [x] Mac build issue

This adds a pulsating effect to the assistant header in case the message
is pending.
The pulsating effect is capped between 0.2 and 1.0 and I tried (with the
help of Claude) to give it a "breathing" effect, since I found the
normal bounce a bit too much.
Also opted for setting the `alpha` on the `LabelLike` things, vs.
overwriting the color, since I think that's cleaner instead of exposing
the color and mutating that.

We're planning to associate "selection sources" with global element ids
to allow arbitrary UI text to be selected in GPUI. Previously, global
ids were not exposed outside the framework and we entangled management
of the element id stack with element state access. This was more
acceptable when element state was the only place we used global element
ids, but now that we're planning to use them more places, it makes sense
to deal with element identity as a first-class part of the element
system. We now ensure that the stack of element ids which forms the
current global element id is correctly managed in every phase of element
layout and paint and make the global id available to each element
method. In a subsequent PR, we'll use the global element id as part of
implementing arbitrary selection for UI text.

The new `ElementContext` was originally introduced to ensure the element
APIs could only be used inside of elements. Unfortunately, there were
many places where some of those APIs needed to be used, so
`WindowContext::with_element_context` was introduced, which defeated the
original safety purposes of having a specific context for elements.
This pull request merges `ElementContext` into `WindowContext` and adds
(debug) runtime checks to APIs that can only be used during certain
phases of element drawing.

This pull request introduces the new
`ElementContext::request_autoscroll(bounds)` and
`ElementContext::take_autoscroll()` methods in GPUI. These new APIs
enable container elements such as `List` to change their scroll position
if one of their children requested an autoscroll. We plan to use this in
the revamped assistant.
As a drive-by, we also:
- Renamed `Element::before_layout` to `Element::request_layout`
- Renamed `Element::after_layout` to `Element::prepaint`
- Introduced a new `List::splice_focusable` method to splice focusable
elements into the list, which enables rendering offscreen elements that
are focused.
