## Summary
- Adds 63 internal links across 41 documentation pages.
- Connects existing terms such as Agent Panel, semantic tokens, edit
predictions, and language-specific debugging to their detailed reference
pages.
- Uses existing wording for 60 links and makes three small wording
changes where a natural anchor did not already exist.
## Why this matters
Readers can now move from overview and configuration pages to the
relevant detailed guidance without searching the documentation manually.
The changes add navigation only. They do not change product behavior or
documented requirements.
## Jev experiment
This PR came from a local experiment using Jev to audit internal links
across the published documentation. The audit scripts are not included
in this PR.
- Code shortlisted 2,715 possible source and destination page pairs.
- Jev made two separate decisions for each pair: whether the link would
help the reader, and which exact existing phrase should become the
anchor.
- Five strong links without existing anchor text went to GPT-5.6 Luna
for minimal rewrite options. Jev then selected among those fixed
options.
- A local review interface surfaced the results for Pass or Fail
decisions before any files changed.
Human review approved 66 changes. Two no longer matched the current
`main` branch, and review removed one circular link, leaving the 63
links in this PR.
## Validation
- `pnpm dlx prettier@3.5.0 <changed docs> --check`
- `lychee --exclude '^http' './docs/src/**/*'` — 0 errors
- `mdbook build docs`
- Verified that the diff adds exactly 63 Markdown links
Release Notes:
- Improved links between related documentation pages.

# Objective
Closes#62624
Recently, Pyright and BasedPyright changed how they retrieve analysis
settings through `workspace/configuration` in microsoft/pyright#11480
and DetachHead/basedpyright#1847, respectively. Older versions requested
the dotted `python.analysis` and `basedpyright.analysis` sections
directly. Recent versions instead request the parent `python` or
`basedpyright` section and read its nested `analysis` object. Because
Zed stores many existing configurations under the dotted top-level keys,
those settings are not included in its responses to the new
parent-section requests and are therefore silently ignored.
Zed's documentation and many users' settings still use configurations
like this:
https://github.com/zed-industries/zed/blob/4155155572601034cec5e5cfa9805bf88957553c/docs/src/languages/python.md?plain=1#L131-L148
all the configrations in `basedpyright.analysis` won't work now.
## Solution
To maintain compatibility with both old and new servers, we need to
support both configuration formats. This PR introduces
`normalize_pyright_analysis_configuration`, which copies the analysis
settings into both the dotted and nested formats. This ensures that the
settings are available regardless of which format the language server
requests.
The documentation, however, has been updated to use the nested
structure.
## Testing
New unit tests have been added, and the changes have also been built and
tested locally.

This PR introduces native LSP support for Bash by integrating
`bash-language-server`. Combined with the existing Tree-sitter grammar,
Zed now provides a complete, out-of-the-box development experience for
shell scripting.
The implementation is very similar to other npm-managed language
servers. With `shellcheck` installed, standard LSP features—including
diagnostics, code actions, go-to-definition, find-references, and code
completion—work as expected.
Since I am not a frequent user of Bash, I have intentionally limited
this implementation to a standard, "out-of-the-box" setup. I lack the
hands-on experience to identify specific pain points or advanced LSP
features that might require custom integration, so I've avoided adding
any speculative or specialized configurations, especially within the
`LspAdapter` trait.

Adds a section on how to configure Zed to use a custom Expert build.
There's already [*some*

on how to do this, but I think it's important to make it clear that the
`--stdio` flag is also required for expert.
Release Notes:

## Context
- Mention support for EEx templates
- Rearranges a few sections (HEEx, `elixir-ls` workspace configuration)
- Corrects naming of HEEx and mention that language server
configurations also need to be applied to it (and EEx)
- Removes unnecessary instructions for how to install `elixir-ls` - the
extension has been able to do this on its own for a long time;
additionally, these instructions were very macOS-specific
- Demonstrates how to pass initialization options to `next-ls` and
workspace configuration options to `expert`
- Rewords the formatting with Mix section - all language servers already
use Mix for code formatting, so these instructions are only useful if
you work _without_ a language server
- Adjust Tailwind LSP configuration instructions
## How to Review
Check for typos and that the wording/structure of the new/reworded
sections is also good.

The purpose of `register_available_lsp_adapter()` is to allow language
servers to be reused across multiple languages. Since adapters like
`ty`, `pylsp`, and `pyright` are specific to Python, there is no need to
register them for other languages. Additionally, registering them
directly to the global `LanguageRegistry` results in negligible resource
consumption.
We can then use the default settings to control the default language
server for Python, as referenced here:
https://github.com/zed-industries/zed/blob/2cc3d382bb669629471886c2ea9b43311c525099/assets/settings/default.json#L2119-L2130

that the `"..."` syntax does not mean "keep the rest at default," but
rather "include all other available servers."

**Explanation:**
The Deno test task example wasn't appearing because the undefined
ZED_CUSTOM_DENO_TEST_NAME variable made the filter invalid. Instead of
adding a default value, simplify the example to run all tests in the
file, which is the most common use case and works out of the box.

## Summary
Reviewed and updated all 18 files in `docs/src/ai/` to meet Zed's brand
voice standards. Each file was scored against the 8-criterion rubric and
rewritten where needed to achieve 4+ on all criteria.
**Changes include:**
- Remove "Learn how to/about" patterns (8 instances)
- Replace vague phrases ("various types of tasks", "and more") with
specific examples
- Remove taboo words ("seamless", "naturally extends")
- Remove emotional language ("We're excited/thrilled/happy")
- Remove marketing patterns ("Stay tuned!", exclamation points)
- Remove unverifiable claims ("world's fastest")
- Replace hedging with direct statements
- Remove promotional emphasis (`_free_`, `**_for free_**`)
- Fix typo in external-agents.md ("servers" → "serves")
- Fix broken link syntax for Ollama Turbo
## Test plan
- [x] `mdbook build` succeeds
- [x] Grep for remaining taboo phrases (only one "seamless" in MCP
official quote, preserved intentionally)
- [x] All facts preserved (URLs, keybindings, settings keys, prices,
