- Get rid of `push_excerpts`
- Get rid of some callers of `remove_excerpts`
We still need to remove some calls to `remove_excerpts` and other APIs,
especially in `randomly_edit_excerpts` and collaboration.

Refactor buffer search bar click handler to use listener pattern
The click handler for the buffer search bar now uses the `cx.listener`
pattern instead of directly dispatching the action. This approach
properly binds the action handler to the component's context and ensures
consistent behavior with other event handlers in the codebase.

## Summary
The include/exclude filters in Project Search now support standard glob
brace syntax like `{a,b}`.
**Before:** `crates/{search,project}/**/file.rs` would error with
"unclosed alternate group"
**After:** Pattern correctly matches files in both `crates/search/` and
`crates/project/`
## Implementation
Added `split_glob_patterns()` function that splits by comma only when
not inside braces, preserving the `{a,b}` syntax that `globset` natively
supports.
Release Notes:
- Added support for `{a,b}` glob syntax in project search

The icons in the far left of the multibuffer toolbar were shifting a bit

also removing the labeled button for the expand/collapse all excerpts;

Fixes#8048
## Summary
In vim mode, pressing Escape to dismiss the buffer search now correctly
restores the cursor to its original position, rather than leaving it at
the first match.
## Problem
When using vim's `/` command to search:
1. User positions cursor at line X
2. User presses `/` to open search, types a query
3. Matches are highlighted, cursor may visually jump to first match
4. User presses Escape to dismiss without navigating
5. **Bug:** Cursor ends up at first match instead of line X
This breaks vim parity where Escape should cancel the search and restore
cursor position.
## Solution
The fix leverages the `focused()` callback in `vim.rs`, which is called
when the editor regains focus after the search bar is dismissed.
**Key insight:** When search starts via `/`, the cursor position is
saved in `SearchState.prior_selections`. When search is *submitted* with
Enter, `search_submit()` drains these selections. But when search is
*dismissed* with Escape, they remain.
So in `focused()`, if:
- `prior_selections` is non-empty, AND
- The search bar's `is_dismissed()` returns true
...then we know the user dismissed the search (Escape) rather than
submitted it (Enter), and we restore the cursor.
## Why not handle `buffer_search::Dismiss` directly?
The initial approach tried to register a vim handler for the `Dismiss`
action. This didn't work because when Escape is pressed, the search bar
(which has focus) handles the `Cancel` action internally and calls its
`dismiss()` method directly—it doesn't dispatch `Dismiss` through the
action system. The vim handler registered on the editor was never
invoked.
## Test Plan
- Added `test_search_dismiss_restores_cursor` — verifies cursor
restoration when search is dismissed
- Added `test_search_dismiss_restores_cursor_no_matches` — verifies
behavior when query has no matches
- All 455 vim tests pass
- Manual testing confirms fix works with both `/` and `cmd-f`
## Release Notes
- Fixed vim mode: cursor now returns to original position when
dismissing buffer search with Escape (#8048)

When there are no search results, it's clear that a search is still
ongoing because the landing page says "Searching...". However, once
there's at least one result found, it becomes completely unclear when
search is actually finished. This adds a spinner immediately to the
right of the result counter that stops once the search is finished.

Happy New Years! This PR is a second take at
https://github.com/zed-industries/zed/pull/38127 (cc @ConradIrwin)
This PR is significantly less complicated than the last attempt: while
we still keep our data on the `NavigationHistory` object, we no longer
tightly integrate it with the existing back/forward "browser history."
Instead, we keep our own stack of `(origin, target)` pairs (in a struct
to make it easy to extend with e.g., tag names in the future).
The PR is split into two separable commits. Most of the implementation
is in the second commit, which:
- Defines the stack data structure
- Implements `pane::GoToOlderTag` and `pane::GoToNewerTag` in terms of
the stack
- Hooks into `navigate_to_hover_links` to push tag stack entries
This last bit is the most fiddly. The core challenge is that we need to
keep track of the `origin` location and calculate the `target` location
across three codepaths that might involve creating a new editor and/or
splitting the pane. One thing in particular I found difficult was that
an editor's `nav_history` (an `ItemNavHistory`) seems to be populated
asynchronously. Instead of relying on it, I decided in this code to make
my own `ItemNavHistory`. I briefly tried to refactor the code in
question, but it seemed like it would significantly increase the scope
of the change.
I prefer this all-in-one tracking centered around
`navigate_to_hover_links ` to the `start/finish` approach taken in
https://github.com/zed-industries/zed/commit/b69a2ea200561de9de0edf4d0c4428ee887fb918
because I find it easier to convince myself that the right data is being
populated at the right times. Of course, let me know if you think
there's a better solution.

Closes #ISSUE
Problem:
- The status bar’s pending keystroke indicator (shown next to --NORMAL--
in Vim mode) didn’t clear when focus moved to another context, e.g.
hitting g in the editor then clicking the Git panel. The keymap state
correctly canceled the prefix, but observers that render the indicator
never received a “pending input changed” notification, so the UI kept
showing stale prefixes until a new keystroke occurred.
Fix:
- The change introduces a `pending_input_changed_queued` flag and a new
helper `notify_pending_input_if_needed` which will flushes the queued
notification as soon as we have an App context. The
`pending_input_changed` now resets the flag after notifying subscribers.
