Chris Biscardi d7b9b28deb format on save: javascript docs (#60070)
# Objective

JavaScript docs for default `format-on-save` settings are out of date.

Small docs followup to https://github.com/zed-industries/zed/pull/59710

## Solution

Change docs to say that JavaScript format-on-save is now off by default.

Vlad Ionescu 70bb09eeaa docs: Add csharp-ls to C# docs (#59028)
I was chatting with somebody today and they told me Zed is terrible
because it [only supports OmniSharp for C# as per the marketing
site](https://zed.dev/languages/csharp) which I knew 100% to be false.
While looking to do a quick fix for that, I realized the Zed marketing
website code is not part of this repo (as [confirmed by a quick
search](https://github.com/search?q=repo%3Azed-industries%2Fzed+LINQ+expressions&type=code))
but that [Zed C# docs](https://zed.dev/docs/languages/csharp) are part
of the repo and they too don't include the changes from
https://github.com/zed-extensions/csharp/pull/77. Here's a quick update
for that!

I did test that `csharp-ls` actually receives the [extra
settings](https://github.com/razzmatazz/csharp-language-server#configuration)
by setting `"razorSupport": true` and confirming that with the LSP logs.

**Note**: I'd wait for https://github.com/zed-extensions/csharp/pull/89
to be merged before merging this PR.

Mohit Goyal 6d42d62281 Fix Deno test task example quoting (#58774)
Updates the Deno runnable support docs so the copied test task uses

fail when running `deno test`.

Miguel Raz Guzmán Macedo 7f826e82c7 Fix grammatical errors throughout the documentation (#58183)
Fixes a batch of grammatical mistakes found across the `docs/` folder:
typos/misspellings, subject-verb agreement errors, missing and
duplicated words, article errors (`a`/`an`), wrong word forms, and
punctuation issues (doubled periods, unclosed parentheses).

Scope is limited to prose in `docs/src/**`; no behavior, settings, or
code changes. 33 files updated, 49 lines changed.

Representative fixes:

- `globs.md`: "features varies" -> "features"; "platforms libc" ->
"platform's libc".
- `installation.md`: "the follow macOS releases" -> "the following macOS
releases".
- `key-bindings.md`: "command pallets" -> "command palette's".
- `linux.md`: capitalization after a period; "able to the environment
variable" -> "able to set the environment variable"; "These feature also
requires" -> "This feature also requires".
- `multibuffers.md`: "Window/Linux" -> "Windows/Linux"; added a missing
closing parenthesis.
- `reference/all-settings.md`: several agreement/article/missing-word
fixes plus an unclosed parenthesis.
- `languages/*`: "partent" -> "parent", "complimentary" ->
"complementary", "setup" -> "set up", "is enabled" -> "are enabled", and
similar.

Xin ZhaoandFinn Evers 5dd9082d05 bash: Add built-in language server support (#52811)
This PR introduces native LSP support for Bash by integrating
`bash-language-server`. Combined with the existing Tree-sitter grammar,
Zed now provides a complete, out-of-the-box development experience for
shell scripting.

The implementation is very similar to other npm-managed language
servers. With `shellcheck` installed, standard LSP features—including
diagnostics, code actions, go-to-definition, find-references, and code
completion—work as expected.

Since I am not a frequent user of Bash, I have intentionally limited
this implementation to a standard, "out-of-the-box" setup. I lack the
hands-on experience to identify specific pain points or advanced LSP
features that might require custom integration, so I've avoided adding
any speculative or specialized configurations, especially within the
`LspAdapter` trait.

There's already [*some*

AltCodeandFinn Evers 5f1fe654b2 docs: Rework Elixir docs (#52421)
## Context

- Mention support for EEx templates
- Rearranges a few sections (HEEx, `elixir-ls` workspace configuration)
- Corrects naming of HEEx and mention that language server
configurations also need to be applied to it (and EEx)
- Removes unnecessary instructions for how to install `elixir-ls` - the
extension has been able to do this on its own for a long time;
additionally, these instructions were very macOS-specific
- Demonstrates how to pass initialization options to `next-ls` and
workspace configuration options to `expert`
- Rewords the formatting with Mix section - all language servers already
use Mix for code formatting, so these instructions are only useful if
you work _without_ a language server
- Adjust Tailwind LSP configuration instructions

## How to Review

Check for typos and that the wording/structure of the new/reworded
sections is also good.

Xin Zhao cdb34c30c9 python: Register LSP adapters directly to the LanguageRegistry (#50662)
The purpose of `register_available_lsp_adapter()` is to allow language
servers to be reused across multiple languages. Since adapters like
`ty`, `pylsp`, and `pyright` are specific to Python, there is no need to
register them for other languages. Additionally, registering them
directly to the global `LanguageRegistry` results in negligible resource
consumption.

We can then use the default settings to control the default language
server for Python, as referenced here:

https://github.com/zed-industries/zed/blob/9c9337a8021f74511625517c3f4fa021106609eb/assets/settings/default.json#L2119-L2130

Additionally, the documentation for Python has been updated to clarify
that the `"..."` syntax does not mean "keep the rest at default," but
rather "include all other available servers."

morgankrey 6daa541e77 docs: Apply documentation standards across all docs (#49177)
## Summary

Comprehensive remediation of 146 documentation files to align with Zed's
documentation conventions and brand voice guidelines.

## Changes

### YAML Frontmatter
- Added `title` and `description` frontmatter to all docs missing it

### Settings UI Pattern
- Updated 48+ files to show Settings Editor before JSON examples
- Pattern: `Configure X in Settings ({#kb zed::OpenSettings}), or add to
your settings file:`
- Added `([how to edit](./configuring-zed.md#settings-files))` links for
JSON-only settings

### Brand Voice Fixes
- Removed exclamation points (command-palette, key-bindings, repl,
privacy-and-security, etc.)
- Simplified em dash chains to parentheticals (environment,
troubleshooting, agent-panel, etc.)
- Fixed marketing language (yarn.md intro, development/linux.md)

### Terminology Alignment
- `settings UI` -> `Settings Editor`
- `sidebar` -> specific panel names (Project Panel, Collab Panel)
- `directory` -> `folder` in non-technical contexts
- `workspace` -> `project` in non-LSP contexts
- `Command Palette` -> `command palette` (lowercase)

### Callout Standardization
- Converted various callout formats to standard `> **Note:**` pattern

João Soares 982e71624d docs: Simplify Deno test task example (#49235)

**Explanation:**
The Deno test task example wasn't appearing because the undefined

adding a default value, simplify the example to run all tests in the
file, which is the most common use case and works out of the box.

specific examples
- Remove taboo words ("seamless", "naturally extends")
- Remove emotional language ("We're excited/thrilled/happy")
- Remove marketing patterns ("Stay tuned!", exclamation points)
- Remove unverifiable claims ("world's fastest")
- Replace hedging with direct statements

André ErikssonandDanilo Leal 1b24b442c6 docs: Add Tailwind configuration section for JavaScript/TypeScript (#45057)
Addresses some tasks in #43969. Namely adding TailwindCSS documentation
for the following languages: HTML, JavaScript and Typescript.

**Some Notes**
- Maybe the additional information in the HTML section is unnecessary,
unsure open to suggestions.
- I tried utilizing capturing groups with alternatives like
`\\.(add|remove|toggle|contains)` but this didn't seem to work, so I was
forced to use multiple lines.

Jeff BrennanandPiotr Osiewicz c20cbba0eb python: Add SQL syntax highlighting (#43756)
Release Notes:

- Added support for SQL syntax highlighting in Python files

## Summary

I am a data engineer who spends a lot of time writing SQL in Python
files using Zed. This PR adds support for SQL syntax highlighting with
common libraries (like pyspark, polars, pandas) and string variables
(prefixed with a `# sql` comment). I referenced
[#37605](https://github.com/zed-industries/zed/pull/37605) for this
implementation to keep the comment prefix consistent.

Arjun Bajaj 19aba43f3e Add Tailwind CSS support for Gleam (#43968)
Currently, Zed does not provide suggestions and validations for Gleam,
as it is only available for languages specified in `tailwind.rs`. This
pull-request adds Gleam to that list of languages.

After this, if Tailwind is configured to work with Gleam, suggestions
and validation appear correctly.

Even after this change, Tailwind will not be able to detect and give
suggestions in Gleam directly. Below is the config required for Tailwind
classes to be detected in all Gleam strings.

<details><summary>Zed Config for Tailwind detection in Gleam</summary>
<p>

```
{
  "languages": {
    "Gleam": {
      "language_servers": [
        "gleam",
        "tailwindcss-language-server"
      ]
    }
  },
  "lsp": {
    "tailwindcss-language-server": {
      "settings": {
        "experimental": {
          "classRegex": [
            "\"([^\"]*)\""
          ]
        }
      }
    }
  }
}
```

The `classRegex` will match all Gleam strings, making it work seamlessly
with Lustre templates and plain string literals.

</p>
</details>
