# Objective
The `git::FileHistory` action ("View File History") silently does
nothing when a diff view is the active item (single-file or multibuffer
project diff).
## Solution
Diff views wrap their inner `Editor` and expose it via `act_as`, but
`resolve_file_history_target` used a strict `active_item_as::<Editor>`
downcast, which returns `None` for these wrappers. Resolve through
`act_as` instead.
## Testing
Added a regression test which opens a `ProjectDiff`, dispatches
`git::FileHistory`, and asserts the file's history graph opens. I've
verified it fails without the `act_as` fix, and confirmed the fix
manually (see Showcase).

Release Notes:
- Fixed viewing a file's Git history when in a diff view.
# Objective
Search in the Git graph does not support full commit hashes in SHA-256
formatted repos, while SHA-1 formatted repos work fine.
## Solution
Use existing constants in the `git` crate instead of hardcoded values
when checking for a commit hash query.
## Testing
Added a regression test for valid SHA-1 and SHA-256 commit hash lengths,
plus rejection of hashes longer than the max length.

I was unable to find an issue or PR which mentions this.
Extensions with non-GitHub repository links always use the GitHub icon,
which is inconsistent with the changes merged in #44738 and #57500. This
change makes `extension_ui.rs` use the Git hosting provider registry to
determine these icons. Below is a preview of the change:

Remote `HEAD` refs such as `origin/HEAD` and `upstream/HEAD` are
symbolic refs that point to a remote's default branch. These refs can
appear in the branch picker, but selecting them shows this error prompt:

This happens because the local branch name is directly derived from the
selected ref, resulting in an attempted checkout of a local branch named
`HEAD`.
This change follows up on feedback from #57588, which just filtered
remote `HEAD` refs out of the branch picker to prevent the error prompt.
As mentioned in [this
comment](https://github.com/zed-industries/zed/pull/57588#issuecomment-4533477336),
I agree that the preferred behaviour should be to instead allow checking
them out - useful for repos with multiple remotes such as an upstream.
For example, if `refs/remotes/origin/HEAD` points to
`refs/remotes/origin/main`, selecting `origin/HEAD` now behaves like
selecting `origin/main`, switching to the corresponding local `main`
branch instead of trying to create or check out a branch named `HEAD`.
This does not fetch or pull from the remote; it uses the locally known
remote refs.
Release Notes:
- Fixed selecting remote HEAD refs from the branch picker

The non-recursive Linux watcher causes subdirectories inside `.git/` to
need explicit watching. For repos using the reftable backend, all ref
data lives in `.git/reftable/`. Operations in the UI like uncommitting
and creating new branches only modify refs inside `.git/reftable`
without changing `.git/HEAD`'s contents, so no inotify event fires on
`.git/` itself and the git UI never refreshes.
Essentially all this change does is check if `.git/reftable/` exists and
if it does, add it to the watcher. On the recursive macOS/Windows
watchers, `FsWatcher::add` returns early safely so this *should* not be
a performance loss apart from the brief lookup.
Release Notes:
- Fixed Git UI not refreshing on Linux for repositories using the
reftable backend.

I was unable to find a specific issue or PR that mentions this.
As Linux installations always use built-in prompts and ignore the `Use
System Prompts` setting (as far as I'm aware) all users using Zed (with
client-side decorations) are affected. The darkened prompt backdrop was
drawn across the full window boundary, including the transparent
decoration/shadow inset, causing it to overlap.
This PR fixes the backdrop to respect the client-side decoration inset
and only applies rounded corners on non-tiled edges. Tiled edges remain
flush, matching the rest of the client-side window decoration behavior.
I've verified it works on Wayland, X11 and causes no regressions on
macOS or Windows (with `Use System Prompts` off).
Notice the screenshots below on a white background showing the before
and after, where the faint overlap is shown broken and fixed (sorry if
you have to squint).

Release Notes:
- Fixed prompt darkened backdrop/background rendering outside
client-decorated window boundaries on Linux.

Follow up of #57312. Hides the scrollbar (which does not do anything)
when markdown code blocks are wrapped.
Release Notes:
- Fixed the scrollbar on wrapped code blocks in the agent chat.
(As far as I can see the wrap button only exists in the agent chat and
not regular markdown previews.)

Corrects the value used for traffic light clearance/padding when
building with the macOS 26 SDK (or later). This was originally fixed in
#45351 but regressed in #48800 where `TRAFFIC_LIGHT_PADDING` was moved
to `ui/src/utils/constants.rs` but the local `build.rs` in `title_bar`
did not apply to the `ui` crate.

Closes#24070
Upgrades git2 from 0.20.1 to 0.21.0 with the `unstable-sha256` feature -
adds ability to open and work with git repositories using the SHA-256
object format. `Oid::from_str` now detects 64-char hex strings to parse
SHA-256 OIDs correctly.
Also adapts to breaking API changes in 0.21.0:
`Remote::url()` and `Commit::message()` both now return `Result`.
Release Notes:
- Added support for opening SHA-256 object format git repositories
