Cameron Mcloughlinandzed-zippy[bot] f6512349ff a11y: Settings UI (#59429)
Adds:
- aria attributes to most UI elements in settings UI
- a new a11y API to GPUI
- a fix for a GPUI keyboard focus bug

## Accesible settings UI

Settings UI should now be fully accessible to users of assistive
technology.

**However**, there are some caveats:
- accessibility features require zed to be launched with the
`ZED_EXPERIMENTAL_A11Y=1` env var to be set
- I have not exhaustively checked every control
- There are some quite surprising keyboard focus behaviours which
predate this code
- The main Zed UI is still largely inaccessible, though a handful of
shared components will now report themselves, but the experience is
suboptimal.

For anyone wishing to try out the settings UI:
- make sure `ZED_EXPERIMENTAL_A11Y=1` is set
- open zed
- press `ctrl-,` (or `cmd+,` on a mac) to open settings UI in a separate
window

## `aria_active_descendant`

This is equivalent to the
[`aria-activedescendant`](https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/Accessibility/ARIA/Reference/Attributes/aria-activedescendant)
API on the web.

It allows a container to maintain focus, while indicating that one of
its children should be active. Zed uses this for menus and combo boxes,
for example.

GPUI will report a div with `.aria_active_descendant()` as long as:
- an ancestor is focused
- only one descendant of the focused ancestor has
`.aria_active_descendant()`

Two descendants with this property where the focused node is a common
ancestor is an error.

## GPUI keyboard fix

GPUI will map a space or enter keypress to a div's `on_click` handler,
if it exists. However, the keyboard-driven path was missing some checks
that the mouseclick path has.

With this PR, for an enter/space keypress to be considered a click,
between the "key down" and "key up" events:
- there must be no other key events
- focus must not move to a different node

This fixes an existing bug with combo boxes in zed where:
- enter maps to `menu::Confirm` **on key down*
- the menu item is selected
- focus moves to the combo box
- enter then triggers the combo box's `on_click` **on key up**,
re-opening the menu

Anant Goel 381dc0bbe3 language_models: Clear speed for OpenAI-compatible providers that don't support fast mode (#59496)
`OpenAiCompatibleLanguageModel::stream_completion` (used for custom
OpenAI-compatible providers) forwarded `request.speed` straight into
`into_open_ai`/`into_open_ai_response`, which translate `Speed::Fast`
into OpenAI's `service_tier` field. Custom OpenAI-compatible endpoints
don't recognize that field and reject the request.

`speed` can end up set even for a provider that doesn't support fast
mode: `Thread::inherit_parent_settings` copies `speed` from a parent
thread to a subagent without checking whether the subagent's model
supports it.

Every other provider sharing this conversion code already guards against
this (`open_ai.rs`, `anthropic.rs`, `anthropic_compatible.rs`,
`language_models_cloud.rs`). This adds the same guard for
`OpenAiCompatibleLanguageModel`.

Release Notes:

- Fixed requests to OpenAI-compatible providers (e.g. Baseten) sometimes
including an unsupported `service_tier` parameter

Anthony Eid c3f6870451 Periodically log memory usage (#58999)
In recent memory leak reports the log was lost (OS killed Zed or forced
a reboot) or showed nothing about when memory grew, leaving us unable to
correlate growth with LSP/toolchain activity in the log. This should
help diagnose:

- https://github.com/zed-industries/zed/issues/58987
- https://github.com/zed-industries/zed/issues/58662
- https://github.com/zed-industries/zed/issues/31461

The polling costs one single-PID, memory-only sysinfo refresh (roughly
one syscall) every 30s — less than the existing per-language-server
polling in `lsp_button.rs`. So the overhead of this shouldn't affect
performance of Zed.

MartinYe1234 6d6641b194 Add agent sandbox permissions settings page (#59448)
Adds a dedicated Sandbox settings page under the AI settings, letting
users review and manage the elevated terminal sandbox permissions that
are always allowed without prompting.

The page exposes:
- Network: an "Allow All Domains" toggle and an editable list of allowed
domains (exact domains or leading-`*.` subdomain wildcards), with
validation.
- Filesystem: an "Allow All Filesystem Writes" toggle and an editable
list of writable paths.
- Sandbox: an "Allow Unsandboxed Terminal Commands" toggle.

This replaces the single "Allow Unsandboxed Terminal Commands" setting
item with the new page, and updates the agent panel's settings shortcut
to open it. "Allow always" sandbox grants now persist to settings only
and are no longer also cached as an in-memory thread grant.

Closes AI-413

Release Notes:

- Added a settings page for managing the agent terminal sandbox
permissions (allowed domains, writable paths, and unsandboxed command
execution).

Bennet Bo Fenner 2df978b11c markdown: Optimize paint_search_highlights (#59473)
Follow up to #52502

This fixes a severe hang in the markdown preview when searching for text
caused by `paint_search_highlights`. We were iterating over all lines
for each highlight, and for each highlight we called
`layout.line_layout_for_index` which internally would iterate over all
the lines of the text layout.

With this optimisation we paint all highlights in one pass. We sort the
highlight ranges, iterate through the lines and only access
`WrappedLineSegments` when we actually have a highlight in that line.

E.g. if you copy this text
(https://gist.github.com/bennetbo/e313f3023da9fec42e090177a5373152) into
the editor, open the markdown preview and search for `codex` Zed Nightly
will completely freeze. After this optimisation it is totally smooth
even in debug mode.

Dino 76f258b504 Refactor editor's select inside/around delimiter actions (#59472)
# Objective

Both https://github.com/zed-industries/zed/pull/59005 and
https://github.com/zed-industries/zed/pull/53789 introduced actions, at
the editor context, which allow to select the content between
brackets/delimiters, with the latter also adding an action to include
the brackets/delimiters too.

Shipping both would mean we end up with three distinct, but similar
actions:

* `editor: select inside enclosing bracket`
* `editor: select inside delimiters`
* `editor: select around delimiters`

As such, in order to simplify this, the changes in this Pull Request
remove the first action, while updating the logic for both `editor:
select inside delimiters` and `editor: select around delimiters` in
order to support continuous outwards expansion, like `editor: select
inside enclosing bracket` supported.

## Solution

* Remove `editor::SelectInsideEnclosingBracket` action, it's related
method and tests
* Updated `editor::selection::Editor::select_delimiters_impl` to use
`MultiBufferSnapshot::enclosing_bracket_ranges` instead of
`MultiBufferSnapshot::innermost_enclosing_bracket_ranges` so we can
traverse all bracket ranges and expand to the next one

## Testing

Besides manual testing, a new test case was added specifically for the
selection expansion support, namely
`editor::editor_tests::test_select_delimiters_expansion`.

subeaxanddino afa22f66fe editor: Add SelectInsideDelimiters and SelectAroundDelimiters actions (#53789)
## Summary

Adds two new editor actions:
- `editor::SelectInsideDelimiters`: selects the content inside the
nearest enclosing delimiters. Works for `()`, `[]`, `{}`, and string
literals (`""`, `''`, `` ` ` ``).
- `editor::SelectAroundDelimiters`: same as above, but the selection
includes the surrounding delimiters themselves.

This addresses the request in #50042

## Why not `select_larger_syntax_node`?

`SelectLargerSyntaxNode` walks up the AST one level at a time. It's an
incremental, history-aware operation: press repeatedly to expand outward
by syntax tree level. The number of presses needed to reach a specific
delimiter pair depends on the language's AST shape and is unpredictable:
sometimes one press, sometimes three, sometimes overshoot.

`SelectInsideDelimiters` is delimiter-based and stateless: one
invocation jumps directly to the nearest enclosing pair, regardless of
AST nodes. It's the equivalent of Vim's `vi(`, `vi{`, `vi"` text
objects, available without requiring Vim mode. The two actions solve
different problems.

## Implementation

Both actions use
`MultiBufferSnapshot::innermost_enclosing_bracket_ranges`, which already
handles nesting, multi-buffer excerpts, and language-specific bracket
definitions, including languages where quotes are declared as bracket
pairs (Rust, Python, JavaScript, JSON, etc.).

For string-like content where the language does not register quotes as
brackets (notably Markdown inline content), `SelectInsideDelimiters`
additionally falls back to a `syntax_ancestor` check for tree-sitter
node kinds `string_content` and `inline`. This is the same set of node
kinds already used in `select_larger_syntax_node`.

Multi-cursor support comes from `move_offsets_with`.

## Tests

Two new tests in `editor_tests.rs` covering:
- Basic delimiter selection (parens, brackets, braces)
- Innermost detection with nested pairs
- String content selection (TypeScript)
- Selection expansion when starting from an existing selection
- No-op when cursor is not inside any delimiter

## Notes

No default keybindings are provided. Users can bind via their keymap.
Can add defaults if reviewers prefer.

Closes #50042

Release Notes:

- Added `editor::SelectInsideDelimiters` and

Lukas Wirth 2bdbd0ef18 editor: Reuse display-map cursors when converting word diffs (#58658)
layout_word_diff_highlights converted each visible word diff to display
points via isomorphic_display_point_ranges_for_buffer_range, which walks
the inlay/fold/tab/wrap/block trees from the root on every call. With
many word diffs on screen this re-walks the same trees repeatedly each
frame.

Add a DisplayPointConverter that holds a forward-only cursor for each
display-map layer (mirroring the cursor reuse already done in
BlockMap::sync) so consecutive conversions amortize to near-constant
work. New forward cursors BufferOffsetToInlayPointCursor and
BlockPointCursor back the inlay and block layers; the fold/tab/wrap
layers reuse existing cursors. Each cursor gains a cheap reset() that
delegates to the underlying SumTree cursor; the converter resets its
cursors if an input range starts before the previous one ended, so it
stays correct for overlapping inputs (e.g. the base and buffer word
diffs of an inline modified hunk).

layout_word_diff_highlights now sorts the visible word diffs and feeds
them through a single converter.
isomorphic_display_point_ranges_for_buffer_range is reimplemented on top
of the converter to keep one code path.

- Improved scrolling performance in diff views containing large hunks

RaniandAnthony Eid a41ccd1206 editor: Speed up multi cursor editing (#58510)
Early draft for #32051 (multi-cursor editing is very slow, and basically
hangs at high cursor counts). Opening it early like @Anthony-Eid
suggested so we can agree on direction before I go further.

## Root cause

Typing with a cursor on every line is mostly O(N)-per-keystroke work
spread across a few places. I profiled it with `sample` and per-phase
timers around `handle_input`. At 1000 cursors (~24ms before this PR):
the post-edit display-map sync is ~11.8ms, the CRDT edit
(`apply_local_edit`) ~3.7ms, resolving all N selections plus the
per-cursor input loop ~3.5ms, the post-edit selection round-trip ~2.6ms,
and `change_selections` plus transact machinery ~2.4ms. The display sync
re-runs per-edit `SumTree` work through every layer even when nothing
transforms (the plain-text case), and selections get re-resolved through
the full display round-trip several times per keystroke.

## What this does

- Display fast paths: `InlayMap::sync` (no inlays) and
`WrapMap::interpolate` (no soft-wrap) skip the O(edits) transform-tree
rebuild and return the passthrough snapshot, gated so a pending inlay
splice or existing wraps still take the slow path.
- Selection fast path: when nothing collapses buffer content
(`!has_folds() && !has_replacement_blocks()`), resolve `Anchor` to
`Point` to `Offset` batched and skip the per-selection display
round-trip (the `todo(lw)`).
- Render and autoscroll resolve only the first/last/newest selections
instead of all N per frame.
- A parameterized `Multi-cursor input/cursors/{1000,10000,100000}`
benchmark.

## Results

- Typing (`handle_input`): ~2.1x faster (24ms to 11.7ms at 1k).
- Type plus two word-deletes (criterion): 29% faster (89.9 to 63.8ms) at
1k, 37% (959 to 606ms) at 10k.
- Post-edit display sync alone: 11.8 to 3.8ms at 1k, 133 to 45ms at 10k.

All `editor` (759), `display_map` (67), `multi_buffer` (58), and `text`
(36) tests pass, and `./script/clippy` is clean.

## Direction

This is ~2x, and I can get the current architecture to roughly 3.5-4.5x
with a few more safe changes (hoisting the per-cursor
language/editability checks, cheaper snapshot clones). Genuine VS Code
numbers (~1-2us/cursor) aren't reachable while the buffer is a CRDT rope
of fragments with anchor selections and a 5-layer transform stack. That
would need a plain-offset cursor model and/or decoupling display layout
from the edit path, which is a bigger effort I'd want to design with
you. One thing I'd need your call on: `set_active_selections` sends an
`UpdateSelections` collab op every keystroke (building N anchors); can
that be debounced to transaction end, or do presence/follow-mode
features rely on per-keystroke cursor broadcast?

João Soaresanddino 0361eff982 editor: Refresh active debug line highlight on theme change (#59274)
# Objective

Fixes #58736

Pause the debugger on a breakpoint, switch your theme, and the active
debug line keeps its old highlight color until you step again or restart
Zed.

## Solution

The highlight stores a concrete color grabbed from the theme back when
`go_to_active_debug_line` ran. A theme switch goes through
`theme_changed`, which refreshes brackets, semantic tokens, and outline
symbols but never re-applies that highlight, so it stays stale.
Re-running `go_to_active_debug_line` from `theme_changed` re-resolves
the color against the current theme.

## Testing

Added a regression test in `debugger_ui` that stops at a debug line,
swaps the theme's `editor.debugger_active_line.background`, and checks
the highlight follows. It fails on `main` and passes with the fix.

Also tested by hand on Windows: started a debugpy session, paused at a
breakpoint, switched themes from the theme selector, and watched the
active line recolor live without stepping or restarting.

prose* contexts (e.g. `README.md`). But in *comment/PR* contexts, GitHub
preserves these newlines:

✅ Did A
✅ Did B
✅ Did C

Users reasonably expect agent output to be rendered following the
comment-style convention.

## What this PR does

This PR adds a `soft_break_as_hard_break: bool` field on `MarkdownStyle`
and enables it for `MarkdownFont::Agent`, so a single newline within a
paragraph *in agent output* renders as a line break instead of a space.
The field defaults to `false` to preserves CommonMark behavior
everywhere else. In `themed_with_overrides`, sets it to `true` for
`MarkdownFont::Agent`. The rendering switch in
`MarkdownElement::request_layout` then emits `"\n"` instead of `" "` for
`MarkdownEvent::SoftBreak` when the flag is set. This matches GitHub
comments and Obsidian default behavior, and prevents emoji + trailing
newline content from being collapsed onto a single line in agent
responses.

Scoped strictly to `MarkdownFont::Agent`. Hover popovers, diagnostics,
markdown preview, README rendering, etc. are all untouched.

Release Notes:

- Improved agent panel markdown rendering: single newlines within agent
responses now render as line breaks, matching the convention used by
GitHub comments and Obsidian.

AAanddino 3cdbdeaaa3 Fix copy shortcut in macOS notebook cells (#59431)
Fix `cmd-c` not copying text inside macOS notebook cell editors.

Previously, the macOS notebook keymap bound `cmd-c` to
`notebook::InterruptKernel` in notebook contexts, including
`NotebookEditor > Editor`. This shadowed the normal editor copy shortcut
while editing notebook cells.

## Solution

Move the macOS notebook interrupt shortcut from `cmd-c` to `ctrl-c`.

This keeps the notebook interrupt shortcut available while allowing the
normal editor keybindings to handle:

- `cmd-c` for copy
- `cmd-x` for cut
- `cmd-v` for paste

inside notebook cell editors.
- This change is macOS-specific.

Cameron BedardandSmit Barmase 29aaa2e315 markdown_preview: Restore preview panes on workspace reload (#56972)
Markdown preview tabs were lost on restart because `MarkdownPreviewView`
implements `Item` and `SearchableItem` but never opted into
`SerializableItem`, so the workspace serializer silently skipped it.

This change adds persistence, modeled on the existing `ImageView` and
`Editor` patterns:

- Add a `persistence` submodule storing `(workspace_id, item_id,
abs_path, mode)` in a `markdown_previews` table.
- `serialize` records the active editor's file path and the preview
mode. `deserialize` reopens the file as a buffer and constructs a new
`MarkdownPreviewView` around it.
- Register the item type in `markdown_preview::init`.

Untitled markdown buffers and previews whose source file no longer
exists are not restored — `serialize` and `deserialize` return `None`
and `Err` respectively, mirroring `ImageView`.

`csv_preview` and `svg_preview` have the same `SerializableItem` defect;
left out of this PR to keep scope focused.

Closes #38581
Part of #7371

Richard Feldman fdebc23ccc Prevent archival of manually-created worktrees (#58275)
This fixes archive cleanup for agent threads so Zed only removes
worktrees it explicitly created, rather than treating every linked
worktree under the configured managed directory as safe to delete. When
Zed creates a worktree, it now records it in the local database along
with the creation time of the worktree's git metadata directory
(`.git/worktrees/<name>/`). Archive planning requires that record, and
right before deleting anything, Zed re-stats the directory and compares
creation times: if the worktree was removed and recreated outside Zed
(or the time can't be read at all), deletion is skipped and the stale
record is dropped. Every failure mode fails safe by leaving the
directory untouched.

For remote (SSH) projects, the stat runs on the remote host via a new
`GitWorktreeCreatedAt` request. Worktrees created by a different Zed
install (another release channel, or another machine connecting to the
same host) have no record in the local database and are therefore never
auto-archived, which is the intended conservative behavior.

Richard Feldman 759972e285 agent: Address review follow-ups for quit-time thread flush (#59079)
Follow-up to #58962 addressing review feedback on the quit-time thread
flush.

The flush now builds its save payloads through the same helper as
`save_thread`, so the two write paths can't drift — in particular, the
flush now captures the current draft prompt the same way ordinary saves
do, instead of writing whatever stale draft was last serialized. It also
logs database connection errors instead of silently discarding them, and
runs the per-thread saves concurrently, since all quit observers share
gpui's 200ms `SHUTDOWN_TIMEOUT` and serial saves risked a partial flush.

The regression test now quits through the real `App::shutdown` path, so
the `on_app_quit` registration itself is exercised rather than just the
flush method, and it additionally covers draft-prompt capture and the
empty-thread skip.

Lukas Geiger cdf9f6ff18 git: Avoid unnecessary git repo rescans when unrelated git files change (#59318)
# Objective

Zed triggers many git rescans whenever an outside git command modifies
files inside `.git` dir. This becomes especially problematic when
working on large repos or doing remote development on machines with slow
filesystems.

## Solution

Events for object writes, hook files, lock files, and the reflogs of
HEAD/branches/remote-tracking branches carry no git changes that Zed
cares about beyond what the ref or events already cover. So changes to
these files shouldn't trigger a full git rescan.

## Testing

I extended the existing unittests to add the additionally ignored
directories and lock files.
I also manually verified the changes by viewing the zed git debug logs
that get generated when running `git gc` on a freshly gc'ed repo.
Previously Zed triggered **7 worktree updates**, with these changes it
was reduced to **a single worktree update** which is due to
`.git/packed-refs` which we can't ignore.

Closes #57888

Commit `c3f05a7060d75eae1b168434d299389f5fcdbdf2` introduced the bug on
#50412 . This change modified the `remove_path` function to also remove
the path from the watcher:

https://github.com/zed-industries/zed/blob/356c8cae072a0288da786b5ac010ce3f0d532ea1/crates/worktree/src/worktree.rs#L3218-L3220

And when a user modified the global setting and doesn't include `.git`
in it, like:

```jsonc
// ~/.config/zed/settings.json
{
  "file_scan_exclusions": ["foo"]
}
```

But then includes it on their local project settings:

```jsonc
// ~/my/local/project/.zed/settings.json
{
  "file_scan_exclusions": ["**/.git"]
}
```

It causes zed to stop watching for changes on `.git`

Release Notes:

- Fixed bug where zed stopped watching change on `.git` directory if it
was added to the project local `file_scan_exclusions`

Ibrahim KhanandFinn Evers 374f619285 project_panel: Select the whole folder name when renaming (#59390)
# Objective

- Renaming a folder whose name contains a dot pre-selects only the text
before
  the last dot, treating the suffix as if it were a file extension.
- Fixes #59294

## Solution

- `ProjectPanel::rename_impl` computed the rename editor's initial
selection with
`Path::file_stem().len()` for every entry. For a directory such as
`my.folder`,
  `file_stem()` returns `my`, so only `my` was selected.
- Directories have no extension, so select the whole name for them.
Files keep
the existing behavior (the last extension is left unselected for quick
renames).

## Testing

- Added `test_rename_folder_with_dot_selects_whole_name` in
`project_panel_tests.rs`.
It fails before the change (folder selection ends at offset 2 of
`my.folder`) and
passes after (offset 9, the whole name); it also asserts a file still
leaves the
  last extension unselected.
- `cargo test -p project_panel` — all 100 tests pass.
- `cargo clippy -p project_panel --all-targets --all-features -- --deny
warnings` and
  `cargo fmt -p project_panel -- --check` are clean.

Ahmed AmmarandChristopher Biscardi 23042e9caa git_ui: Add View File action to Git Panel (#59383)
# Objective

When reviewing changes in the Git Panel, the only ways to open a file
were through a diff view ("Open Diff" or "Open Diff (File)"). There was
no way to open the file directly in the editor to inspect or edit its
current contents without entering a diff.

This PR adds a **View File** action to the Git Panel changes list
context menu.

## Solution

- Add a `git::ViewFile` action in `crates/git/src/git.rs`, alongside
other per-file git actions like `FileHistory`.
- Wire it into the Git Panel file context menu, between the diff actions
and "View File History".
- Implement `GitPanel::view_file` to resolve the selected entry's repo
path to a project path and open it via `workspace.open_path_preview`,
matching the pattern used in `commit_view::open_file_at_head`.
- Document the new action in `docs/src/git.md`.

### Related issues
- https://github.com/zed-industries/zed/issues/58250

## Testing

- Added three GPUI tests in `git_panel.rs`:
  - `test_view_file_tracked` — modified tracked file
  - `test_view_file_untracked` — untracked file
  - `test_view_file_tree_view` — nested file in tree view
- Ran `cargo test -p git_ui test_view_file` — all three pass.
- Ran `./script/clippy -p git_ui` — clean.

**Manual testing for reviewers:**

1. Open a project with changed files and open the Git Panel.
2. Right-click a changed file and select **View File**.
3. Confirm the file opens in the editor (not a diff view).
4. Repeat for an untracked file and with tree view enabled.
5. Confirm **Open Diff** and **Open Diff (File)** still work.

Tested on macOS only. Linux and Windows should behave the same since
this is a context menu action with no platform-specific code, but I
haven't verified on those platforms.

MartinYe1234 7e6b9e0cff git_ui: Resolve worktree picker remove-from-window clicks by path (#59084)
Follow-up to #58996. The "Remove Worktree from Window" button captured
the row index at render time and re-resolved it against the picker's
matches at click time. Matches are rebuilt asynchronously (initial
worktree list load, post-delete refresh, query changes), so the index
could drift between the rendered frame and the click being processed,
closing the workspace of a different worktree than the one the user
clicked.

This changes the click handler to capture the worktree's path — a stable
identity — instead of its index, adds the same `deleting_worktree_paths`
click-time guard the neighboring handlers use, and constructs the button
only when it will actually be shown.

Scoped to the code added in #58996; the same stale-index pattern in the
delete and open-in-new-window handlers is left for a later change.

Release Notes:

- Fixed an issue where the worktree picker's "Remove Worktree from
Window" button could act on the wrong worktree if the list updated at
the moment of the click.

4482fa6498 acp_thread: Enforce the network allowlist via an in-process proxy (#59220)
Final PR of a four-PR stack adding hostname-allowlisted network access
to agent terminal sandboxing. Stacked on #59219 — review/merge #59217,
#59218, and #59219 first.

Spawns the `http_proxy` allowlisting proxy for sandboxed terminal
commands that request network, and pins the Seatbelt policy to its
loopback port (`NetworkAccess::LocalhostPort`) so all egress is forced
through it. The child's proxy environment variables are pointed at the
proxy and any inherited `NO_PROXY` is blanked so nothing connects
direct; a real upstream proxy from the environment is chained through
when present. The proxy and its Seatbelt config file share one RAII
handle so both live exactly as long as the command, and per-connection
events are drained to the log.

The proxy binds loopback, so it only applies to local projects on macOS;
elsewhere the wrap falls back to unrestricted egress as before (the
agent layer widens such requests accordingly).

Release Notes:

- Added the ability to grant agent terminal commands network access to
specific hosts (rather than all-or-nothing), enforced by an allowlisting
proxy.

d39cbcfc4c agent: Model sandbox network escalation as a host allowlist (#59219)
Third of a four-PR stack adding hostname-allowlisted network access to
agent terminal sandboxing. Stacked on #59218 — review/merge #59217 and
#59218 first.

Replaces the boolean `allow_network` terminal-sandbox escalation with a
hostname allowlist. The `terminal` tool now takes `allow_hosts` (exact
hostnames or leading-`*.` subdomain wildcards, validated up front) and
`allow_all_hosts` as a broad escape hatch. Approval prompts name the
requested hosts, thread grants and persistent "allow always" settings
cover requests via host-pattern subsumption the same way write paths use
subtree containment, and the authorization card in the agent panel lists
the requested hosts.

Host allowlists aren't enforced yet in this PR: `SandboxWrap` carries
the allowlist, but any network request still maps to unrestricted egress
at the Seatbelt layer, matching previous behavior. Enforcement via the
in-process proxy lands in the final PR of the stack. All of this is
behind the existing sandboxing feature flag. For non-local projects
(where the loopback proxy won't apply), host requests are widened to
"arbitrary network access" before prompting so approvals match
enforcement. Old persisted `network: bool` authorization details still
deserialize via a serde alias.

Richard Feldman 13b10f9cb9 sandbox: Replace allow_network bool with a NetworkAccess enum (#59218)
Fourth PR of the stack adding hostname-allowlisted network access to
agent terminal sandboxing. Stacked on the `http_proxy` crate PRs
(#59217, #59222, #59223) — review/merge those first; this PR's diff is
only the sandbox change.

Replaces the `allow_network: bool` field on the macOS Seatbelt
`SandboxPermissions` with a `NetworkAccess` enum: `None` (block all
egress), `All` (the previous `allow_network: true` behavior), and
`LocalhostPort(u16)`, which confines a sandboxed command to a single
loopback port. The new variant emits a Seatbelt rule permitting outbound
TCP only to `localhost:<port>` and isn't constructed yet; it exists to
pin sandboxed commands to the in-process network proxy in a later PR.
The sole consumer maps its existing boolean to `All`/`None`, so behavior
is unchanged.

Richard FeldmanandMartinYe1234 4e04617329 http_proxy: Add the allowlisting proxy server (#59223)
Third of the `http_proxy` stack. Stacked on #59217 and the
upstream-config PR — review/merge those first.

Adds the in-process HTTP/HTTPS proxy server that enforces an
`Allowlist`. It speaks HTTP CONNECT for HTTPS tunnels and forward
proxying for plain HTTP, vets resolved addresses against
loopback/private/link-local ranges to prevent DNS-rebinding past the
sandbox, pins each connection to the destination approved for its first
request (so later keep-alive requests can't escape the policy decision),
optionally chains through the upstream proxy, and bounds header sizes,
connection counts, and connect/handshake waits since its sole client is
untrusted model-driven code running inside the editor process. Includes
end-to-end tests covering allowed/denied CONNECT and HTTP forward,
IP-literal handling, DNS-rebinding denial, and upstream chaining.

Still has no callers; wired into the agent terminal sandbox in the
remaining PRs of the stack.

Second of the `http_proxy` stack. Stacked on #59217 — review/merge that

Adds `UpstreamProxy`: parsing of an upstream HTTP proxy from the
environment (`HTTPS_PROXY` / `HTTP_PROXY` / `ALL_PROXY` and lowercase
forms) with `NO_PROXY` bypass matching delegated to the `proxyvars`
crate, basic-auth credentials kept out of `Debug`/`Display`, and

chain outbound connections through a corporate proxy when one is
configured.
